In occultism the pineal gland is regarded as a link between the objective and subjective states of consciousness; or, in exoteric terminology, the visible and invisible worlds of Nature. In the religions of the Latins it was, therefore, referred to as Janus, the two-faced god and keeper of the gates of sanctuary. This divinity was the antitype of St. Peter, who succeeded him as the warder of the heavenly portals and who carries the two keys of his office—one to the golden mystery of the spirit and the other to the silver mystery of the body. Two-faced gods are frequently spoken of in ancient records. Hermae like the bifrons Janus may still be seen in old Roman villas, with the occasional and intriguing exception that one of the faces will be male and the other female—the hermaphroditus again?

There is an alchemical mystery also in connection with the pineal gland, for the regeneration of man is dependent upon the tincturing of this gland, which must be transmuted from base metal into gold. Very small children, but recently removed from their embryonic recapitulation of humanity’s earlier struggle for existence, have an extremely sensitive area about the crown of the head where the skull has not yet closed, in rare cases it never closes at all, although usually the sutures unite between the seventh and ninth years. The sensitivity of the area of the head over the third eye during childhood is usually accompanied by a phase of clairvoyance or, at least, sensitiveness.

According to Karl Pribram and the results of many scientific experiments, the human brain itself is a hologram. Its function is to receive holographic wave frequencies and translate them into the physical universe we see “out there.”

Dr. Dean Radin would hook a person up to various machines to measure a number of different bodily responses, such as heart rate, EKG, skin conductants, the amount of blood in the fingertip, and respiration.
The person then sits in front of a computer screen with a button in their hand. They‟re told to press the button whenever they‟re ready, and five seconds later the computer will randomly select a picture and display it on the screen.

There are two different types of pictures the computer can choose from. One group of pictures will evoke an emotional response in normal people – like a picture of violence, or war, or rape, or ugliness, or the Twin Towers coming down on 9/11. The other group of pictures are designed to be neutral, to normally not have any emotional impact when viewed, like a scene of a city street in Anytown.

We already know what happens in the body when people see an emotional image – what happens to their heart rate, to their EKG, skin conductants, the amount of blood in the fingertip, and respiration. They “spike.”
We also know what happens in the body when people see a neutral (non-emotional) image. They remain “calm.”

When the person in this experiment pushes the button, the computer has not yet chosen which picture to display, or from which group, and will not make that decision until five seconds later when it immediately puts the picture on the screen.

Now here‟s the amazing thing: The person‟s bodily responses being measured would occur before the computer chose the picture and displayed it on the screen. In other words, the person‟s heart rate, EKG, skin conductants, the amount of blood in the fingertip, and respiration would all spike prior to the picture coming up if the picture were an emotional picture, and the bodily responses would all remain calm if the picture about to appear would be neutral.

To repeat, all of these bodily responses (or lack of bodily responses) would occur before the computer had even chosen which picture to put on the screen. The only conclusion that makes any sense is that the brain knows what picture is coming before the person is aware of it – indeed, before the computer has even chosen which picture to display – and the body is responding accordingly!7

The very latest evidence (July, 2010) comes from a BBC documentary called Neuroscience and Free Will. Here‟s the setup….

The subject lies in a CT scanner holding a button in each hand. All the subject has to do is decide to press the button in his left hand or the button in his right hand, and then press the appropriate button immediately while the CT scanner records his brain activity.

The result is that the brain clearly shows up to 6 seconds in advance which button the person will press - left or right. This is 6 seconds before the subject consciously decides which button he will press. The brain activity is so clear and 100% consistent that the technician watching the scanner could easily predict with absolute certainty which button the subject would press before the subject makes his own conscious decision.

The astral plane can be divided into seven sub-planes which are also known as “the seven levels of the astral consciousness”.

4th division: kamic or desire astral sub-plane

This is the worst and most terrible of the astral sub-planes, and it is the state of consciousness that is reached in the most acute cases of delirium tremens. And from here come the images that tempt men to incite them to commit all kinds of depravity, vices and crimes. And individuals of a weak nature or prone to those behaviors fall under their influence, falling into those vices or committing those horrendous crimes.

And men for years (even generations) by dint of creating subtle negative entities with their bad thoughts, emotions and actions, inevitably one day end up returning these manifesting in the physical world in the form of calamities. 5th division: manasic or mind astral sub-plane

It is in this sub-plane that premonitions and dreams are given, and glimpses into the past and the future, as well as the reflections of the lower mind and of the objective and non-spiritual things. The mesmerized clairvoyant can reach this sub-plane and if he is good, he can still go to the next higher sub-plane.

6th division: buddhic or spiritual astral sub-plane

From this sub-plane come all the beautiful inspirations of art, poetry, music and high types of dreams, as well as flashes of genius. And from here we can catch reminiscences of past incarnations, although it is not possible to locate and analyze them.

7th division: atmic or auric consciousness astral sub-plane

The consciousness is in this sub-plane at the moment of death or in exceptional visions, remembering all the past events of your life in a flash. The memory of this consciousness must be kept in the heart, "the seat of the spiritual soul" (Buddhi). Then it will remain there, although impressions of this state of consciousness cannot affect the physical brain.
