In my opinion, this is the (fictitious) Black Cloud which is referenced by Fred Hoyle in his book "The Black Cloud" and which I believe is a modern day myth created by Hoyle for our heads up and the arrival of the dark star. Hubble Detects Ghostly Glow Surrounding Our Solar System Aside from a tapestry of glittering stars, and the glow of the waxing and waning Moon, the nighttime sky looks inky black to the casual observer. But how dark is dark? To find out, astronomers decided to sort through 200,000 images from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope and made tens of thousands of measurements on these images to look for any residual background glow in the sky, in an ambitious project called SKYSURF. Though the presence of a sentient cloud of gas may seem unlikely, the story is grounded in hard science.[5] The detection of the cloud is described using physics equations, all of which are included in the book. Hoyle brought his experience and knowledge as the Director of the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge, a Fellow of the Royal Society into the book. In a plot twist that foreshadows Hoyle's stance on panspermia, the cloud expresses surprise that intelligent life is capable of forming on planets. Speculative discussions among the fictional scientists about the nature of an encountered extraterrestrial life form (the black cloud), and the reasoning applied to decide that this new entity can be regarded as a form of life, is a major theme of the novel. Dark Star? Black Cloud?

The description by the witness of the mass blocking the light of the stars, concurs with the planetary Kordylewski Clouds and their eventual re-discovery first of Jupiter, then of the earth. I believe she is seeing a Kordylewski Cloud but -- "There is no reason why such "Kordylewski Clouds" cannot be the size of a galaxy." (Black Hole) -- it is possible the Black Cloud or Dark Star of prophecy is now arriving and is that which the witnesses saw and it is related to the cosmic dust. See both videos below.
